In the 265-year-old cemetery lie some of Danish history's greatest geniuses, crookiest existences and richest men and women buried. When it became too inhumane to continue burying the dead in the cemeteries of the enclosed town behind the ramparts - not to mention the fine ones who wanted to lie under the church floor - in 1760 Assistens cemetery was built in rural Nørrebro.
